Each day around lunchtime, Meals On Wheels volunteers deliver much more than hot nutritious food. For homebound people, our visits mean contact with the outside world and the chance to remain at home -- not in a nursing home. Consider some real nourishment at your next lunch hour. Volunteer for Meals On Wheels and enjoy a lunch that's good for your heart. Click here to learn more about our year-round volunteer opportunities.

The Auction committee is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the auction to be held at the Brunch: assisting with the solicitation of Auction items in a broad variety of categories, contacting donors from prior years as well as new donors, creating interesting packages for the Silent Auction, and assisting with the presentation and promotion of the Auction prior to and during the Brunch.
The Raffle Committee will redesign and “reinvent” the Raffle for Meals On Wheels Delaware, creating an exciting opportunity for Brunch attendees and others to win highly desirable prizes.
The Chefs Committee identifies the desired chefs for the Brunch, gains their commitment to attend and support, manages all their detailed needs (equipment, foods, etc.) in advance and works as their local contact point during the weekend of the Brunch, with the support of the professional chefs on the committee and the Managing Director.
The Corporate Underwriting Committee is responsible for obtaining corporate sponsorship of the event, engaging all who have participated in previous years, and securing their continued sponsorship. The goal is to retain all previous years' sponsors and secure 10 new ones for the new season.
The Logistics and Site Management Committee is responsible for all aspects of the facility (Bank of America) for the Brunch and the Silent Auction. The committee oversees all logistics regarding chef station layout, direction of volunteers, traffic flow and patterns of attendees to the Brunch, all equipment, security requirements, flowers and decorations, music, and all additional site management needs.
The Advertising Sales Committee is responsible for sales of advertising in the commemorative cookbook. Contacts include all sponsors who do not receive ads with their sponsorship, prior year sponsors, retailers and all prior advertisers. Creative approaches to increase advertising revenue will be utilized in 2005, with committee involvement in the design and creation of new ways to gain revenue for Meals On Wheels Delaware.
The Ticket Sales Committee is responsible for ticket sales - each committee member will have a goal of ticket sales to the public. Committee members will identify new potential purchasers for addition to the mailing list, assist in the promotion of the event to news media, and work within the community to ensure all prior year attendees see the benefit of buying tickets and attending again.
The Wine Selection Committee is responsible for soliciting beverage houses and wineries to supply wine and all other beverages for the Brunch. Committee members will contact all appropriate suppliers for the area, select and upgrade the wines served during the Brunch, engage suppliers and wineries for donations of wine and wine-related items including travel packages for the Silent Auction, engage vintners and writers on tour to attend the Brunch as a guest celebrity, and assist in cataloging wines served during the brunch.
The new Wine Evening Committee will design, plan and host exclusive tastings of rare and unusual wines in a series of small events. This committee will provide the invitation list, solicit and procure the wines for the evenings (as donations to Meals On Wheels Delaware), engage local chefs to provide appropriate complementary foods, secure the locations (private clubs or homes) for the Evenings, and manage all details of the events to support Meals On Wheels Delaware.
The new Marketing Committee will assist with several committees (corporate underwriting, advertising) for image creation, market placement, "branding" and enhancement of the Meals From The Masters brunch. The design, look and feel of the event will be overseen by this committee including invitations, cookbook, auction book, tickets (attendee and raffle), brochures, website design and all ads and press releases.
The new Commemorative Cookbook Committee will oversee the layout and production of the cookbook. This includes page design and layout for the three basic templates of the book, cover design, and editing and proofreading text. The Director will provide the layout recommendations and manages the printer relationships with direct input from this committee.
