Cellar Masters’ Wine Auction was added as a major component of the Meals From The Masters weekend of events in 2005. It has become an integral part of Evening With The Masters at the Chase Center on the Riverfront.
The following year, a remarqued bottle by legendary American artist, Jamie Wyeth, sold for $7,800. In 2007 we had a “Battle of the Brandywine” as reknown artist, George A. “Frolic” Weymouth challenged a second bottle donated by Jamie Wyeth with an original bottle of his own. The Weymouth bottle sold for $2,035 and the Wyeth for $3,500.
In 2008, we had internationally acclaimed artist, Peter Sculthorpe, who had painted an 8” x 10” painting in oil, just for Cellar Masters’ Wine Auction. The lot included the framed original artwork as well as a custom wine label crafted from the original art on a magnum bottle of 2002 Merican Wine from Chaddsford Winery.
For the 2009 event, local artist Ella Morris has created a painting that will be displayed on a bottle of a magnum of Carpineto’s lovely and accessible super-Tuscan blend, Dogajolo. The framed painting is also available on the auction block. Click here to read more and view the painting!
